Richard was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, the third out of nine children.  He has three wonderful daughters of his own.  Richard is an avid martial artist, with a second-degree black belt in Okinawan Shorin Ryu karate, as well as belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Krav Maga.

Richard has been litigating since 1999, working almost exclusively on behalf of plaintiffs in a variety of areas – personal injury, professional negligence, product liability, employment law and contract law.  Richard conducts trials and appeals at all levels of the Ontario Courts, but is a strong advocate of mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution where they offer a reasonable chance of an economical and workable solution.

Richard has conducted trials or mediations resulting in millions of dollars of recovery for his clients.

Richard received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Jerome’s College in 1994, and his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1997.  He articled and practiced with a small litigation firm in Burlington until joining Petker and Associates in October 2012.  He has been one of the principals of Petker Campbell Postnikoff since April, 2015, and is very happy to be back in his hometown.

Richard belongs to the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association and the Waterloo Law Association.  He has testified as an expert witness in Canadian law in the Los Angeles Superior Court, and has sat for years as a Deputy Judge in the Small Claims Court for the Central South Region of Ontario.

What sets Richard apart is his commitment to providing service to his clients – every client can depend on communication, compassion and experienced advice.
